A Mountain in the Making

Last autumn we shared a moment ten years in the making, the breaking of ground at Tourmaline. Then, it was still mostly vision and earth. Today, it is becoming a reality.

Tourmaline is Phase 1 of what is rising at one of Switzerland’s most magical mountain resort.

Twenty-one luxury serviced apartments, alongside a clubhouse that will hold a full wellness area, an Italian restaurant, two vibrant bars, a deli, and a members’ lounge. All of it at 2,000 metres, where the air is thin, the light is long, and the views belong to the valley.

THE WORK BENEATH THE SURFACE

Inside the Critical Phase

Right now the project sits in one of its most demanding chapters. On site, the team is completing the back walls, service ducts, fire escapes, and elevator shafts — the quiet, essential bones of the building.

Once this work is done, the timber structural elements arrive, and the core and shell close. This is the milestone that changes everything: the moment groundwork becomes architecture, and the building, at last, begins to read as a building.

Building at 2,000 metres is a craft of its own. The season’s windows are narrow. The weather always has a vote. Every delivery, every trade, every concrete pour must be coordinated with a precision most projects never have to consider.

We have understood this from the very first sketch, and we have planned for it. We have a tight timeline, but a tight window, in the right hands, is not an excuse, it becomes something solved together.
